Surprising Ways to Enhance Your Cannabis High

Running low on your stash? Looking to spend less money on weed? There are a couple ways you can maximize your THC high without smoking more cannabis. Just like if you drink booze on an empty stomach you’re likely to get more drunk, there are ways to feel the effects of weed more strongly (and without vomiting at the end of the night).

One way to max out on your cannabis high is to exercise after you smoke. Research has shown that the runner’s high originates in the endocannabinoid system, just like the cannabis high. When you exercise, the body releases endocannabinoids (cannabinoids that naturally occur within the body) such as the bliss chemical anandamide. If you consume cannabis before you exercise, your weed high and your exercise high will enhance each other.

Another way to augment cannabis’ effects on your body is to eat mangoes when you smoke weed. Mangoes contain a great deal of myrcene, a terpene, or aromatic chemical, that gives both the mango and cannabis plants their odor and therapeutic qualities. Myrcene is known to have anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, analgesic, sedative, and antimutagenic effects. If you eat a ripe mango before you smoke weed, it will allow your endocannabinoid system to absorb more THC than otherwise. Strains such as White Widow or Jack Herer, in particular, have large concentrations of myrcene.

If you want to lower your tolerance to get more high later on, you can also simply take a break from weed. Putting your cannabis consumption on hiatus will help you reevaluate your relationship to the plant, allow you to use less for the same effects, and help you get perspective on the right strains for your needs.

However, if you don’t want to quit weed, you can also eat edibles or use concentrates to maximize effects of the plant, whilst consuming less of it. Making your own edibles with anywhere from 15 to 45 milligrams of THC is more economic than your average joint, rolled with about 30 to 40 milligrams. Because of the way your body metabolizes cannabis, it’s likely the same number of milligrams will go further in an edible than in a joint. If you’re not into edibles, however, vaping or dabbing a concentrate will also get you higher, while utilizing less weed.
