With a new line of weed strains based on Netflix’s most popular shows, Netflix & Chill has a whole new 420-friendly connotation.
The Netflix Collection, as the new line is called, debuted at a pop-up event in Los Angeles at Alternative Herbal Health Services, a medical marijuana dispensary in West Hollywood. Each of the collection’s ten different strains was cultivated with a specific Netflix show in mind; the strain’s tone is meant to complement the show’s title, according to the press release. “For example, sillier shows may be more indica dominant, while dramedies will be more sativa dominant to help the more powerful scenes resonate.”
Poussey Riot, the strain based on Orange is the New Black, is cultivated for effects that enable “kicking it with somebody, talking, making mad stupid jokes.” Arrested Development‘s strain, Banana Stand Kush, is meant for a “big yellow joint,” while the Grace and Frankie strain, the Peyotea 73, is an “uplifting sativa hybrid.”
When you watch shows like Lady Dynamite, Santa Clarita Diet, and Bojack Horseman, be sure to have some munchies handy, because their correlating strains are meant to “really ramp up your appetite.” And of course, “Camp Firewood,” inspired by Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later, is a “very chill indica.”
While Netflix couldn’t officially profit off the pop-up shop strain debut, the event was meant to help promote its new series Disjointed, which is about a cannabis dispensary. In fact, three of the collection’s strains were inspired by the new show.
While the show has so far received mixed reviews, perhaps pairing the accompanying strains while watching it will help the audience get what it’s all about.
